Estimation of the Seismic Damage Potential of RC Frames Using Seismic Parameters

This research investigated the relation between main earthquake parameters by incorporating information about ground motions and difference in fundamental period. period is one method of assessing structural damage because it can express potential from an earthquake. Three RC (3-, 9- 12-story) frames have been analyzed under far-fault records using nonlinear dynamic analysis. Mathematical methods then were applied to assess correlation principle seismic PGA, $${a}_{\mathrm{RMS}}$$ , $${I}_{\mathrm{a}}$$ $${I}_{\mathrm{c}}$$ A95, ASI VSI that extracted records. The best correlations as calculated Pearson coefficient values coefficients for 0.621 0.767, which signifies a strong correlation. Regression equations indicated new ( $${I}_{\mathrm{c}}\mathrm{VS}$$ ) with even higher 0.757–0.782 every parameter very newly achieved indicates they are appropriate indices estimating
